Richard Cassera – Senior Land Surveyor
Richard requires little introduction to those who have worked in this region for some time. Chances are, if one has spent any time researching maps and records of survey on the Central Coast, they have come across many documents which bear his stamp and signature. The one word which we feel best describes Richard is “conscientious”. His work, in the field and in the office, is methodical, though performed in a timely fashion. One can always trust him to do the right thing, and he is mentoring a group of upcoming survey technicians and surveyors to do the same kind of excellent work.
Paco Castaneda – Engineering Technician
Paco is a Central Coast native since 1971 with a long list of professional accomplishments resulting from his 40-plus years of experience working on local projects throughout the community. Paco is a Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Alumni, and his professional competences range from Civil Engineering, Transportation and Surveying – not to mention he’s completely fluent in Spanish. Paco’s wisdom, experience, and tenacious work ethic make him an irreplaceable asset to our team here at GTA.
James Cooper – Senior Civil Engineer; PE, QSD
James manages many of our survey-related projects, in close coordination with Mr. Cassera. As such, he is developing a reputation as a conscientious worker, providing excellent detailed mapping and topographic survey information. He has the ability to lead a crew in the field, and to manage the schedule and budget requirements of survey and design tasks which he is assigned. Most recently, James provided horizontal and vertical control for a critical aerial survey required for construction, verifying that all data obtained was placed on the correct datum and tied to a nearby, well-established benchmark. He has also recently helped our firm to record maps in Arroyo Grande, San Luis Obispo, and San Luis Obispo Counties.
Jeff Emrick – President, PE, QSD, Architect
Well known throughout San Luis Obispo County, Jeff is an even-keeled, creative problem solver and teacher to his staff – known for expertise in many facets of the civil engineering industry, and for his no-nonsense, time and money-saving approaches to solving problems. As an engineer with an architect’s eye, he has an uncanny ability to see a problem before it arises, and generate a solution before it becomes a problem. Jeff is heavily involved in the design and management of all of GTA’s projects, with extensive experience which ranges from oversight of pavement rehabilitation projects, to unique ADA accessibility design, home design and large backbone infrastructure projects.
Jenny Emrick – Project Manager
Jenny is an accomplished Project Manager with years of industry experience in the local development community. Born and raised on the Central Coast, she is well-suited to navigate our local agencies and help expedite processing whenever possible. She is responsible for working closely with clients to ensure that goals are met throughout every phase of the design and construction process. In addition, Jenny builds strong relationships within the Central Coast community to help further develop the business. Jenny is a Cal Poly San Luis Obispo alumni, and is currently working towards obtaining her Real Estate License and Project Manager Certification as well.
Jim Garing – Senior Principal Engineer, PE
Jim served as the City Engineer for the City of Grover Beach from 1981 – 2011, and still serves as the City’s Water and Wastewater Engineer to-date. Known for his many fascinating, thrilling hobbies (such as flying and racing), he is also quite well known and sought after for his knowledge of water supplies in the area as well as his nearly encyclopedic knowledge of the history of the Five City’s regional roadway and utility infrastructure systems. Nearly all of Jim’s 40+ years of experience are in public works and his passion to pass on his legacy of service to the City of Grover Beach thrives within our office. Rest assured, if there is an existing issue within some existing infrastructure, he is well aware of it – and our staff has taken note.
Sean Hummel – Senior Civil Engineer; PE (AZ)
In over 7 years of design and construction administration experience, Sean has primarily provided his services to transportation and large public works-related projects. Most recently, he has served as the assistant project manager for a large backbone infrastructure public improvement project– providing horizontal and vertical layout and design for public streets, along with water, sewer and storm drain design and the requisite studies for over 3 miles of roadway through hilly terrain. Prior to his time here at GTA, his work covered Arizona State Route 51, the Loop 303 Interchange, Arizona State Route 86 and Interstate 15 in Riverside County.
Perry McBeth – Engineering Technician
At GTA Perry is gaining valuable experience in civil design in pursuit of his Professional Engineers License. In addition, he has spent time in Surveying and Storm Water Management, where his tasks include construction staking, topographic surveying, and storm water inspections and reports.
Lisa Mirau – Administrative Assistant
Lisa has lived on the Central Coast for 25 years and provides our office with essential organizational support and a positive work environment. Admin tasks include daily timesheet organization and distribution, as well as answering and appropriately directing customer calls. Her 20 plus years of experience in customer service and management roles are valued and highlighted by her eye for detail and quick-thinking abilities.
Janae Perry – Administrative Assistant
With over 8 years of experience as an Administrative Assistant, Janae is focused and dedicated to maintaining a successful business in all aspects of daily administrative tasks. She has an extensive knowledge of accounting practices and successfully manages A/R & A/P accounts, correspondence, inventory, financial reports, and marketing.
Mike Ratty – Senior Civil Engineer, PE
Mike has 40 years of experience in most aspects Civil Engineering from basic design to construction management. He has also been a part of the engineering and construction for improvements of sewer and water treatment plants for various districts in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties. In recent years, Mike has been involved in the street design and other projects for the City of Grover Beach.
Ronald Reilly – Vice President, PE, QSD
A resident of Grover Beach, known to attend and provide a citizen’s voice at many City Council meetings, Ron leads from his drives to serve his community, to save his client’s valuable resources, and his drive to succeed in building a team which takes great pride and joy in what they do each day. With over 11 years of well-rounded civil engineering experience, he has served in a variety of capacities, ranging from commercial land development design and project management, to engineer-of record for large public-private partnerships and project engineer for large industrial and commercial backbone infrastructure development.
Adam Stanford – Engineering Technician
Adam has 20 years of drafting experience with computer aided design software for engineering (AutoCAD) combined with land survey experience in the field. He also has an interest in graphic design which he uses to clearly present the project. His background includes a variety of work – private residences, commercial development, public improvement plans, topographic mapping and construction staking. A Central Coast resident for most of his life, Adam enjoys working with our engineers to develop state of the art projects that benefit our local communities.
