Vivid Vision 2024

Our Vision:

Read a description of what GTA will look, act, and feel like by December 31, 2024 here >>.

Our History:

GTA is a leader in civil engineering, land surveying, and planning on California's Central Coast. We serve commercial and residential development clients, public agencies, schools, hospitals and agriculture.

Founded in the 1960’s, GTA grew up as the public works department for the Southern part of San Luis Obispo County. To this day, we handle a mix of approximately 70/30 private and public work.

Although GTA has been engaged in civil engineering and land planning for almost 60-years, we’re an energetic group of high-performers who understand there’s much more to life than work. We operate with a start-up-like mentality and love to have fun while making a positive difference in the lives of our clients and community.

ABOUT THE CIVIL ENGINEERING TEAM

At GTA, the Civil Engineering team works closely with our Land Surveying and Project Coordination teams on a vast array of projects within the public and private sectors.

Work is fast paced, and a successful Civil Engineering Project Manager can expect to be working on (though not limited to) 2-3 medium-to-large size residential/commercial/mixed-use subdivisions, 5-10 single family residential grading and utility plans, and 1-2 municipal utility service projects at any given time - while overseeing and directing the work of a team 3-5 engineers and designers.

The successful candidate will lend technical expertise to all phases of the project, but spend the majority of project time relaying the key concepts to staff for execution, then following up to ensure the intent and quality of design concepts are as imagined.

GTA CULTURE

As a member of the team, here’s a glimpse into what it’s like to work at GTA...

We support each other. If someone is going through a challenging time, we rally together. We help each other move or dig fence posts on the weekends. We are generous with our money and time, investing in causes that are important to our leaders and employees. Volunteer your time to a cause that aligns with our company values and we’ll pay you those days PLUS issue you additional vacation time!

We have fun. We play softball, volleyball, golf and surf together. Our intramural volleyball team and hiking club are in full force. At our annual BBQ, we gather with our families, long-time clients, sub-consultants and vendors for tri-tip, ribs, volleyball, bean bag toss and laughter. At the Christmas party, we enjoy the rowdiest white elephant gift exchanges you’ll see in the corporate world!

We grow together. With The GTA Way Lunch and Learns, you can develop your skills with topics like “Use of Software,” “Project Management,” “Principles of Design in our Basic Project Types” and “Running a Civil Engineering Firm.” Or, if you find another training that’s mutually beneficial to you and the team, propose a time, location and date and let's talk about it! We’re always looking to improve and asking employees, “What could I do if I was another company to lure you away?” or “What do you need from your job to make it a positive part of your day?”

Here, we’ve set up an intentional culture where the RIGHT people come, find the RIGHT SEAT and happily stay in it for years to come.
